Archives - Loot

by Joe Orton

Directed by Eric Chorley

Saturday 22nd – Saturday 29th January 1977 in the Auditorium

A family in mourning, a coffin, a missing body, the proceeds of a bank raid and a highly suspicious policeman are the ingredients of Loot. From this surprising mixture Orton concocts a farce which as it develops makes an irreverent assault on some of our more hallowed institutions. The author’s wit was such that one critic called him the “Oscar Wilde of the Welfare State”.
