1979. Esme Allen is a well-known actress. The visit of her young daughter Amy with a new boyfriend sets in train a series of events which only find their shape 16 years later.

David Hare mixes love, death, and the theatre in a sparkling and original way in this play that starred Judi Dench and which was acclaimed in London and on Broadway.
